Our adventure begins among the spectacular landscapes of Sete Cidades, where trails wind around volcanic calderas and the famous twin lakes of blue and green. Whether exploring the crater by foot, climbing quiet roads, or running along trails surrounded by hydrangeas and sweeping views, every turn reveals another perspective of this remarkable landscape.
From the highlands, the journey continues to Lagoa do Fogo, one of São Miguel’s most breathtaking natural treasures. Surrounded by rugged volcanic peaks and protected wilderness, the lake offers challenging climbs, secluded trails, and panoramic views that stretch across the island and out toward the Atlantic. This is where the beauty of São Miguel meets the challenge of the trail.
Further east, we’ll explore the geothermal heart of the island in Furnas, where volcanic activity bubbles beneath the surface. Steam rises from the earth, hot springs invite you to slow down and soak, and trails weave through lush forests and around crater lakes. It’s a place where you can feel the island’s energy beneath your feet and experience the unique connection between nature, adventure, and Portuguese culture.
Along the coast, rugged cliffs give way to dramatic ocean views, hidden paths, and charming villages. We’ll discover the island at a pace that allows us to experience it fully, sometimes pushing our legs on a challenging climb, sometimes settling into the rhythm of an easy run, and sometimes simply stopping to take in the incredible landscape around us.
